Winter break is just days away, and with it, the relief of two weeks to recharge and refresh before the second semester. For many teachers, though, break becomes a flurry of family activities and preparations for the next semester, leaving little time to truly unplug. With that in mind, here are some tips for making the most out of your time off:
- Let your school management system handle your documents
If you’ve got things like lesson plans and activities from last year, make sure you have them uploaded to your school management system so you can access them year after year without having to reinvent the wheel. If you notice changes that need to be made, make yourself a note and tackle all of your changes in the summer, when you have the most time to prep.
- Get your creative juices flowing
Do you like to paint or play music or take photographs? Block off some of your break to take part in creative activities. You might find inspiration for a new class activity or a way to solve a problem that’s been nagging at you just by giving those creative muscles some time to flex.
- Get some rest
It can be incredibly hard as a teacher to really let go of all of the tasks that need to be done and relax, but the extra rest will make all of the difference once January is here and you’re back in the classroom. Trust that your summer prep, along with your school management system, has you ready to head into semester 2 with no problems, and take this time to be with family, enjoy the holidays, and come back refreshed.
From all of us at Twine, we wish you a happy holiday season and a restful start to your new year!
